Share

The renowned Yala National Park┬áin southeast Sri Lanka is┬áhome to one of the world’s greatest concentrations of leopards, elephants, sloth bears and other wildlife, attracting a large number of visitors all year round. As a valuable wildlife sanctuary and tourist attraction, it is important to protect this national heritage site.

Therefore, Block 1 of the national park will be closed from┬á1 September┬áÔÇö 31 October 2018┬áto help further protect the wildlife and improve park infrastructure. During this time, the park’s west entrance (Galge) will remain open for all visitors.

There are also many other wildlife sanctuaries and conservation parks throughout Sri Lanka┬áÔÇö┬ásuch as Kumana, Lunugamvehera, Bundala, Udawalawe and Wilpattu┬áÔÇö that offer alternative experiences to Yala National Park.
