help support rescued elephants in Laos

Many of Diethelm Travel products involve┬áwatching or interacting with animals.┬áWhile attractions involving animals can┬áhave social, economic, environmental and┬áeducational benefits, when activities are not carefully┬ámanaged, they can negatively impact the welfare of┬áthe animals and affect our customerÔÇÖs enjoyment of the┬áexperience. We want to help protect animals from exploitation, neglect and cruelty. With this in┬ámind, weÔÇÖre helping try to raise awareness for a current fundraising campaign for the Elephant Conservation Center in Sayaboury, Laos. The centre recently received┬á13┬áelephants that were rescued from being sold abroad. Originally trained to perform degrading circus┬átricks, the elephants which range between the ages of 5 – 47, will now be enjoying life amongst the┬ácentre’s already existing herd of 16. While itÔÇÖs an incredible opportunity, the new elephants do put┬áfinancial pressures on the centre so theyÔÇÖre running a crowdsourced fundraising campaign to support┬áthe elephantÔÇÖs proper care.
