Sri Lanka tops national geographic travellerÔÇÖs coolest destinations for 2018

Sri Lanka has topped the National Geographic Traveller UKÔÇÖs coolest destinations list for 2018. The popular magazineÔÇÖs January/February 2018 edition features 18 destinations which are set to make it big in 2018. The magazine reveals the coolest haunts, the hippest hangouts, the bucket list breaks and the enthralling escapes.

Ranking Sri Lanka as the number one, the magazine states: If any country offers a better all around travel experience than Sri Lanka, then itÔÇÖs hiding its light under a very sizable bushel. Beach lovers can pick from a host of picture-postcard spots on the Indian Ocean coast.

If cultureÔÇÖs your thing, youÔÇÖll be falling over UNESCO-listed historical sites, from mound-like Buddhist stupas ÔÇô or dagobas ÔÇô dating back thousands of years, to royal capitals, cave temples and colonial fortresses. Time your visit with a Buddhist celebration, such as Vesak, and join festival crowds thronging streets decorated with lanterns.
