An Overview of Your Adventure
DAY 1
Start your journey from Manila and head north for 360 km. Make your way along the roads and highways until you get to Bagabag, which is located in the northern part of the country. Then, take a hike up to 1300 meters and make your way to Banaue – a charming town that’s nestled in the mountains of Cordillera. Spend the night there for an unforgettable experience.
DAY 2
A short jeepney ride takes you to BangaanÔÇÖs native village, which is a short uphill downhill hike from the townÔÇÖs main road. Once youÔÇÖre there, youÔÇÖll get a taste of local culture before heading to a vantage point, where youÔÇÖll be able to take in the views of the ancient rice terraces. Visit the public market in Banaue, brimming with indigenous handicrafts.
DAY 3
Take a scenic drive to the town of Bontoc where you will visit the museum founded by the Belgian sisters, where you will learn about the local history. Later, you will visit the mysterious burial caves of the Ifugao people in the town of Sagada, where you will meet the indigenous people who inhabit this place. Spend the night in Sagada.
DAY 4
Take a scenic drive through mountain passes with panoramic views of the Cordillera mountains, deep valleys, and steep canyons to reach the town of Cervantes, then continue on to Bessang pass, which was the site of an important battle during World War II. On the way, pass idyllic farming towns, tobacco curing stables, and green fields, and finally arrive at the charming city of Vigan on the Abra river. Spend the night in Vigan.
DAY 5
Explore ViganÔÇÖs cobbled streets lined with colonial-era houses, St. PaulÔÇÖs Cathedral, and the Syquia mansion. A short ‘calesa’ horse drawn carriage brings you to a jar factory which Vigan is well noted for called Pagburnayan – a centuries old industry where carabao is used to trample the clay. Watch a clay-throwing demonstration before heading to PaoayÔÇÖs UNESCO-listed church, St. Augustine. Check-in to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 6
Begin your day in Laoag by visiting Museumo Iloko located which is housed in the historical Tabacalero building. YouÔÇÖll also visit town attractions such as Abolition of Tobacco Monopoly Monument, St Williams Cathedral and Sinking Bell tower. End your trip with a return flight to Manila.
